Jeremy Renner Is Shirtless, Revealing Scars From a Near-Fatal Snowplow Accident: “I Look Great!”

Jeremy Renner proudly wears his scars from the traumatic snowplow incident more than a year ago that nearly cost him his life.

The “Mayor of Kingstown” star showed off his healing efforts and went shirtless on the cover of the July/August issue of Men’s Health. Returning to work on Season 3 of the popular series a year after the accident wasn’t a breeze, but Renner made a commitment to himself, the cast and fans of the show.

“Four months of abuse,” Renner said of his workouts with personal trainer Cat Cantella. “Physical, mental, emotional. But I feel good and I look great!”

Renner began rehabilitation at home before returning to Pittsburgh to film “Kingstown,” but admitted he was barely prepared for the first day of filming in a cemetery where temperatures did not exceed 40 degrees.

“I was pretty shaky when we started on Jan. 8. We’re walking on ice and I have no energy,” Renner said. “I was falling asleep. But I think this will be the best season because of that. Don’t get me wrong, Mike is still Mike – he’s still the guy you want as a friend. But it’s more emotional, because I’m more emotional.”

Renner almost walked away from the show at one point due to his own mental block and said he had no interest in working on “fiction” shows.

“Because, man, the last thing I wanted to do – to be honest with you, I almost quit filming and do this show – was fiction,” he said. “Like, ‘Oh wait, I don’t care about fiction!’ » Bulls — words and bulls — stories and bulls — characters. On January 1, 2023, Renner was airlifted to a hospital after being run over by his own Snowcat while trying to tow a vehicle stuck in the snow near his home in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He suffered more than 30 broken bones, blunt force trauma to his chest and orthopedic injuries.

Bodycam footage showed what happened during Renner’s session. traumatic snowplow accident on New Year’s Day near his home in Lake Tahoe, California, where he was “completely crushed” by his 14,000-pound PistenBully Snowcat.

The night before, a massive snowstorm had left several vehicles stranded and Renner attempted to move a vehicle from his driveway using his PistenBully. He managed to move the car, get out of the PistenBully and speak with a family member when the snowplow unexpectedly started rolling.

Officials with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department responded to the bloody scene, which was reported by a neighbor shortly before 9 a.m. Renner was trying to help. his nephew, Alex Fries, move a truck stuck in the snow. Renner got out of the plow to check on his nephew, but it kept moving, so he jumped on to stop the plow and got stuck in the tread.

After Renner was transported away from the scene, a paramedic could be heard saying, “I’ve never seen anything like this.”

“What a fucking disaster, man,” Renner told Men’s Health of his recovery. “Taking a shower, going to the bathroom, everything was a disaster.”

He added: “They give you medicine so you don’t go to the toilet, so you get constipated. And you pee in a potty. It was horrible. That’s when you know things are not going well – you pee in a plastic jug It took me 17 minutes to get out of bed.

After the accident and his release from the hospital, the “Hawkeye” star kept fans updated on his progress via social media.

“A lot of people love me. And I had no idea,” Renner told Men’s Health. “I had to learn how to receive all this love, and it’s not easy. From people you don’t even know.

“Why is this accident such a thing? But then I said, ‘Fuck, stop asking why. Get it.’ I was famous for having a bow and arrow; now I’m famous for overcoming something as a man.”
