Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez gushed about each other in first double interview on CNN

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez gave their first TV interview together during which the couple gushed over each other and sang the praises of each other.
Bezos, 58, who is the fourth richest person in the world, and Sanchez, 52, said the couple’s partnership was strengthened because they were “teammates”.
“We’re really good teammates, and we also have a lot of fun together and we love each other… We always look up to each other and we’re the team,” Sanchez said during the interview that aired on CNN.
‘It’s easy. We bring energy to each other, we respect each other. So it’s fun to work together,’ Bezos added.

Bezos, who is also the founder of spaceflight company Blue Origin, says he thinks anyone who wants to go into space will have the opportunity to do so in their lifetime.
‘I do [believe space travel will be attainable for everyone]. Let me give you an example. The Wright Brothers flew this tiny plane, just a few hundred feet. And if you told the Wright brothers in a hundred years that there will be a 787 that will carry 400 people, they would laugh,’ Bezos said.
Sanchez, an Emmy-winning former journalist born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, also announced that she plans to go to space next year with a “large group of women” accompanying her.
Sanchez has her own pilot’s license and founded Black Ops Aviation in 2016, the first female-owned and operated aerial film production and production company.

“I also learned to fly the helicopter,” Bezos added. And he’s a horrible backseat driver. She is awful!
“I realized that when I’m in the back of the helicopter when it’s flying, I just have to look out the window, just enjoy the scenery,” Sanchez laughed. ‘I’m like, ‘No, no. Go back up. OK. OK, slow down. But he is very good.
The couple who are normally relatively private when it comes to their relationship saw Bezos expand on the compliments.
“Lauren is the kindest, kindest person you will ever meet. So she’s an inspiration in that way. She never misses a birthday. The network of people to whom she gives birthday presents is gigantic. And this is just a small example.
The couple also revealed what they were up to on a Saturday night, joking that their night was nothing special.

“We can be a bit boring,” Sanchez said with a laugh. “I would say normal. We have dinner with the children. It’s always fun and a great conversation starter. There are seven between us, so there is a lot of discussion. And then we watch a film… in committee. It takes a long time to find this movie.
“We’re probably spending more time choosing the movie than necessary,” Bezos added.
During the interview, Bezos said he would give away the majority of his wealth over his lifetime, becoming the latest billionaire to pledge to donate much of his vast fortune.
Bezos, whose real-time worth is estimated by Forbes magazine at around $117 billion, made the announcement during the interview.
The billionaire did not specify how – or to whom – he would give the money, but said the couple were developing the “capacity” to do so.
“The hardest part is figuring out how to do it effectively,” Bezos said during the interview. ‘It is not easy. Building Amazon hasn’t been easy. It took a lot of hard work and very smart teammates. And I discover – and Lauren’s discovery – that philanthropy is very similar. It is not easy. It’s really difficult.’
Bezos had been criticized in the past for not signing the Giving Pledge, the campaign started by Bill Gates, Melinda French Gates and Warren Buffet to encourage billionaires to donate the majority of their wealth through philanthropy.

Bezos’ ex-wife, McKenzie Scott, signed the pledge in 2019 and has since become a formidable force in the world of philanthropy, flooding charities across the country with unexpected — and often secret — contributions.
Over the past three years, she has given more than $12 billion to historically black colleges and universities, women’s rights groups and other nonprofits.
Bezos, who divorced Scott in 2019, stepped down as CEO of Amazon last year to devote more time to philanthropy and other projects.
Among other donations, he has pledged $10 billion to fight climate change through his Bezos Earth Fund initiative.
Last year, he gave $510.7 million to charity, according to The Chronicle of Philanthropy.
Last week, Bezos awarded $100 million to Dolly Parton to give children access to books around the world.

Parton, 76, became the latest recipient of the Courage and Civility award at the Bezos Awards. The recipient receives $100 million to “direct to charities it deems appropriate.”
The beloved singer looked shocked when she received the colossal sum of money – adding: ‘Did you say $100m?
“I’ve always said, I try to put my money where my heart is,” the country music legend said as he accepted his award. “I will do my best to do good things with this money,” she promised.
The couple said they wanted to shed a “little bit of light” on people who use unity rather than conflict to solve problems.
“We wanted to amplify their voices because really negative voices seem to be amplified in this world,” she said. “I think the work we do with the Bezos Courage and Civility Award needs to have a voice,” Sánchez added during the CNN interview.
“And the people we’ve chosen so far, Van Jones, Jose Andres, Dolly Parton, all have such stories to tell.” I just feel honored to be able to be a part of what they do for this world.

The award “rewards leaders who aim high, find solutions, and always do so with civility,” Bezos’ longtime girlfriend Lauren Sanchez said at the awards ceremony last week.
