The new government takes office at a pivotal time, American president Donald Trump threatening several times to grasp the Arctic island and refusing to exclude military force or economic constraint to trap it.
Greenland has been an autonomous Danish territory for decades and contains large reserves of critical minerals while occupying a key strategic location in the Arctic.
Vance should arrive imminent with an American delegation which includes his wife Usha Vance, the national security advisor Mike Waltz and the energy secretary Chris Wright.
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, congratulated the new government of Greenland on Friday, highlighting the EU’s commitment in a visible manner.
“You deserve partners who respect and treat you as equals. And the European Union is proud to be such a partner for you,” said Von Der Leyen.
