Vance’s comments occurred just a few hours after Washington signed an agreement with kyiv to share the profits of Ukraine mineral resources in exchange for reconstruction of the United States reconstruction
Despite a limited American success so far in the judgment of hostilities more than three years after Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his large -scale invasion, Vance also congratulated US President Donald Trump as the only person who could cause tensions between Moscow and kyiv.
“I do not think that anyone could have concluded this affair, apart from Donald J. Trump. And when I say this agreement, I mean, bring these guys to propose a peace regulation,” said Vance.
In a separate interview with Fox News on Thursday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there must soon be a “real breakthrough” in the conflict, if not Trump would reduce his efforts to end the war.
“I think the president will have to make a decision on the time we will devote to it,” said Rubio.
Putin announced a three-day temporary ceasefire on Monday on Monday from May 8 to mark the end of the Second World War. In response, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, called the ceasefire to last at least 30 days.
The fighting continued tirelessly in the meantime. Friday, a Russian drone strike injured 29 people in Zaporizhzhia. Russia accused Ukraine on Thursday of a deadly drone attack against a territory market occupied by Russia – kyiv denied this assertion, declaring that the strike only targeted military personnel.
