The Celtics will officially have to manage another injury while they deepen the 2025 qualifiers. According to Charania de Shams d’Espn, after Jayson Tatum has fallen hard in the victory of match 1 against magic, he had other tests carried out on his right wrist.
“Jayson Tatum has undergone an MRI on this right wrist in the last 24 hours,” said Charania. “It was diagnosed with a bone bruise in its shooting wrist. It is believed that it is an injury to pain tolerance. Something that Celtics will manage on a daily basis.
“His status is a bit in place in the air for match 2 Wednesday. It is very difficult for a guy like Jayson Tatum to miss any period. He likes to play basketball. But this injury could clearly be something that persists a little.”
Tatum is officially listed as doubtful for match 2 of the series with what the team called a bone bruise of the right distal department. It is a blow for the champions prevailing in the future even beyond the match on Wednesday.
Tatum landed on his wrist after a blatant fault of the Caldwell-Pope Magic Kentaver in the fourth quarter. He was on the field for a while before getting up to finish the victory of match 1.
The Celtics are already faced with a different bone bruise on the right knee of Jaylen Brown. Brown played through the injury in match 1, and although he had a slow start, he looked more like him in the second half. It is therefore a pair of injuries to the two Celtics players, only one match in the playoffs.
Tatum dealt with a left wrist problem throughout the 2022 eliminatory series which led to a final berth of the NBA. He did not talk much about it when the playoffs were underway, but later talked about how he needed to get injections to continue playing. At this stage, it is not clear the gravity of this bone bruise in its right wrist.
The Celtic coach Joe Mazzulla said after Tuesday training that Tatum was daily. The C currently leads the 1-0 series, but if Tatum is limited in the future, this will certainly have an effect on their hopes in the playoffs this year.
