Jaylen Brown took his game to another level this season, winning Eastern Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP while helping the Celtics win their first title since 2008.

The Celtics forward recently sat down with YouTuber KT The Arch Degree for a nearly two-hour chat about his performance secrets.

He mentioned a number of techniques including dieting, fasting and incorporating water exercises into his routine.

“When I was 24, I decided to go vegan and it instantly changed a lot of different things,” Brown said. “That year I was an All-Star for the first time so I think there was a correlation. I just moved differently.

“My thoughts were clear. My life has changed in a sense. Now I mix vegan practices with my own dietary needs to do what I need to do, but back when I was vegan, I valued nothing more than clear thoughts, clarity.

Brown was also asked about how his observance of Ramadan contributes to his performance.

“First, give your body a chance to — you spend so much time, you know, focusing on digesting and breaking things down,” Brown said. “When there’s nothing in your system, your body can use that energy to do so many different things, like heal you, give you a little more clarity, or just your body starts to function in different ways when you have energy. do this.”

“But also, it’s important to have a connection to the creator, the highest,” Brown added. “I think that’s essentially what the month is for, to use the alignment of the moon, the alignment of the planet in order to connect to that ultimate frequency.”

Brown said challenging his body through fasting has also led to improvements in his mental health.

“I’ve said it before, in many ways it really saved my life,” Brown said. “We go through trauma, we all have issues and things that we face on this planet that have an effect on us because we are humans.

“The state of your mind, your state of well-being can determine how you move forward in those moments,” Brown continued. “Being able to have good mental health and being able to cope with life’s challenges is a huge skill set. I think fasting helped me in that regard, to develop that, so now when you come to times of adversity, those times of anxiety, of depression, you are able to persevere because you have it. practical.

Brown said adding pool workouts to his regimen also helped his game take off.

“The more I immersed myself in the water, the more I saw my body transform over the last two years,” Brown said. “I became more athletic, I became faster, I became bigger and stronger and I attribute a lot of that to my improved relationship with the water.”
