Lake Butler, Florida (AP) – Jay North, who played the role of Mischief Towhed Makera on “Dennis the Menace” on television for four seasons from 1959, died. He was 73 years old.
North died on Sunday at her home in Lake Butler, Florida, after fighting colon cancer, said Laurie Jacobson, a longtime friend, and Bonnie Vent, who was her booking agent.
“He had a heart as large as a mountain, deeply loved his friends. He frequently called us and put an end to each conversation with “I love you with all my heart”, wrote Jacobson in tribute on Facebook.
North was 6 years old when he was interpreted as a manufacturer of smiling disorders in the adaptation of the sitcom CBS of the popular comic strip of Hank Ketcham which took place in an American idyllic suburbs.
Often wearing a striped shirt and bump, the mischievous puffonries of Dennis often frustrated his retired neighbor George Wilson, played by Joseph Kearns. Dennis patients were played by Herbert Anderson and Gloria Henry.
The show took place on Sunday evening until it was canceled in 1963. After that, it was a match for decades in syndication.
Later, North appeared on television in programs such as “The Man From Untle”, “The Lucy Show”, “My Three Sons”, “Lassie” and “The Simpsons” and in films like “Maya” (1966), “The Teacher” (1974) and “Dickie Robert: former Child Star” (2003).
