Jason Demetriou FIRED by South Sydney Rabbitohs after terrible start to NRL season

Jason Demetriou has been sacked by the South Sydney Rabbitohs following the club’s terrible start to the 2024 season.

The club’s hierarchy held a board meeting on Tuesday evening which resulted in the decision to terminate the coach’s contract, with immediate effect.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, assistant coach Ben Hornby is expected to take over first-team duties for the remainder of the season as the club begins the search for Demetriou’s successor.

Wayne Bennett is the leading contender for the helm, while Craig Bellamy and club hero Sam Burgess have also been linked with the top job.

More soon.
