Jasmine Harman in tears on Loose Women following Jonnie Irwin’s death

A Place In The Sun presenter Jasmine Harman broke down in tears on Loose Women today (May 29) as she reflected on the death of her late colleague Jonnie Irwin.

Jonnie sadly passed away in February, aged just 50, following a battle with lung cancer which spread to his brain.

As a montage of photos of Jonnie and Jasmine together was shown on Loose Women, Jasmine immediately became emotional, admitting: “Looking at these old photos chokes me up, of course.”

She then emotionally discussed her friendship with Jonnie.

“It was a big break for both of us from what we had been doing before, working in television,” she said of the couple who got their big break on the Channel 4 show.

“We didn’t always tour together as we were often in different countries, but we used to get together all the time at A Place In The Sun events and became really good friends, me and Jonnie . Jonnie came to my wedding.

She added: “I met my husband on the show and when Jonnie met Jess, his lovely wife, I just remember thinking wow, she was the one for him.”

She continued: “And then they had their adorable boys. And yes, it’s definitely a difficult time…” At that point, Jasmine trailed off, overcome with emotion.

Kaye Adams chimed in supportively: “It’s fresh and I’m totally enjoying this Jasmine,” she said. “I mean, it’s only been a few months since Jonnie passed away and lost a friend… All losses are hard, but losing a friend 20 years ago is a special loss.

“I don’t know, we think about their lives,” Kaye said.

We can all cherish each day and live with as much joy as possible.

Jasmine agreed with this sentiment, devastatingly concluding: “I think you never know what’s around the corner and I think Jonnie’s situation, we can all learn something from it.” We can all cherish each day and live with as much joy as possible. And that’s what he did.
