Jasmin Savoy Brown returns to the horror franchise

Jasmin Savoy Brown returns to Woodsboro.

I can exclusively announce that Brown will return as Mindy Meeks-Martin in “Scream 7.” Brown joins Mason Gooding, who plays Mindy’s brother Chad, in the seventh installment of the beloved horror franchise.

Mindy is the first queer character in the franchise.

The film is currently filming in Atlanta, under the direction of Kevin Williamson. “Scream” veterans Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox also return as Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers. It was recently announced that Joel McHale would play Sidney’s husband.

“Scream 7” is scheduled to hit theaters on February 27, 2026. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film, produced by Spyglass Media.

Williamson posted a behind-the-scenes photo to Instagram on January 9 to mark the start of filming. “I’m not supposed to post on Scream and I hope @spyglassmediagr and @paramountpics will forgive me, but when you’re having one of the best days of your life it’s really hard to keep it to yourself,” Williamson wrote accompanying the photo. “What an amazing day I had working with an incredible and talented cast and crew. They brought their A game and supported me every step of the way. I am very grateful for this opportunity and to Wes Craven who has been on my mind through all of this. The profound impact he has had on my life and career is endless. What a day! I can’t wait for tomorrow!

New cast members also include Isabel May as Sidney’s daughter, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner and Anna Camp.

“Scream” is a long-running horror franchise, which has already spawned four feature films, including “Scream” (1996), “Scream 2” (1997), “Scream 3” (2000) and “Scream 4” ( 2011). directed by the late Wes Craven. The franchise was revived with the fifth installment, “Scream”, in 2022. The latest film, “Scream VI”, released theatrically worldwide in March 2023, currently holds the franchise record for the highest domestic box office gross (over $108 million), previously held by the original “Scream” and grossed over $169 million worldwide.

Brown recently launched a new daily podcast for the queer community, “Today in Gay,” and will be seen in the third season of the Emmy-nominated Showtime series “Yellowjackets” in February. Previously, she starred in ABC’s “For The People” and HBO’s “The Leftovers.”

Brown is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content and Narrative PR.
