Janelle Monáe believes she went back in time to see a hero, just for one day.
In a conversation with Lucie DacusThe “Oh, Maker” singer explained that she managed to travel back in time to see David Bowiedied in 2016, at his peak.
“I traveled back to the 1970s,” Janelle explained in rolling stone“Musicians on Musicians” from “Musicians on Musicians” published October 20. “And I saw him do Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Marsand it was amazing.
Understandably shocked by the revelation of Janelle seeing the 1973 musical concert live, Lucy, 30, clarified: “You came back?
“Yes,” Janelle, 39, explained. “I was behind the scenes and I was like, ‘This is what I want to do.’ And so I went back to the 2000s and I was like, “I can have the musical, do the music, create the lyrics” and create a community around transformation and being queer and – not even in sexuality but in the way we see the world.
