Jamie Redknapp has blasted Liverpool for their waste following Sunday’s shock 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The Reds were dealt a major blow in their quest for the Premier League title as Eberechi Eze scored the only goal in Palace’s shock 1-0 win at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were punished for a poor start by Eze after 14 minutes, then failed to take many chances in a frustrating second half on Sunday.

Redknapp said: “So many chances, it felt like you could be there until next week and they wouldn’t have scored.”

“Liverpool missed many chances. When the end of the season comes, that’s when you have to be clinical.

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson agreed and said Klopp’s side were paying the price for lacking a natural goalscorer.

“I think it’s a bad finish, a lot of them are bad finishes. It was one of those days.

“Curtis Jones, I think the Wharton boy is doing well here, he’s putting a bit of pressure on him. You can’t keep getting behind.

“They don’t have a natural goalscorer. That’s Arsenal’s problem. Man City have a natural goalscorer and are currently top of the league.
