Jamie Foxx Reveals New Details About the Mysterious Illness That Landed Him in the Hospital

Jamie Foxx has shed new light on the health issue that landed him in the hospital in April 2023, revealing that it all started with a headache that turned into a medical emergency.

In a video recently released on social media, Foxx is seen speaking to people in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, reliving the beginning of the scare.

“I have a bad headache. I asked my son for an Advil,” he said, then snapped his fingers. “I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.”

He explained that he was in Atlanta and that his sister and daughter took him to a doctor where he received a cortisone injection, an injection used to treat inflammatory conditions, swelling, pain and irritation, according to the Mayo Clinic.

“The next doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there,'” he said, pointing to his head. But he wouldn’t elaborate, saying, “I’m not going to say it on camera” until filming wrapped.

It’s unclear exactly when the video was taken. NBC News has reached out to Foxx’s representatives for comment.

The 56-year-old actor and singer has never revealed what his mysterious illness is.

He experienced the emergency while working on the film “Back in Action” alongside Glenn Close and Cameron Diaz in Atlanta and has remained largely out of the public eye since then.

In July, he shared an emotional video on Instagram describing his ordeal, saying he had “been to hell and back” but was “coming back.” At a Critics Choice Association event in December, he revealed he had been unable to walk at one point.

Also in December, he shared an Instagram post about his birthday, calling it “special.”

“I needed all your prayers…you helped me through this…I was able to make it to this day because of your prayers,” he wrote.

Foxx has often thanked and credited his daughter, Corinne Foxx, and his sister, Deidra Dixon, with saving his life.

“They kept quiet, they didn’t let anything out, they protected me. And that’s what I hope everyone can have in times like these,” he said last July.
