Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards and Co pick the Champions League brackets on CBS… with ‘experienced’ Bayern tipped to beat Arsenal and Atletico backed as finalists… while one expert wastes NO time in choose a champion!

The CBS Sports Champions League panel has predicted how this season’s competition will play out by selecting its groups for the remaining seven knockout matches.

The quarter-finals of European football’s elite club tournament are underway, with Arsenal hosting Bayern Munich and Manchester City visiting Real Madrid in the first two legs on Tuesday.

Atletico Madrid are next scheduled to face Borussia Dortmund while Barcelona travel to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, before all eight teams play their second leg next week.

It promises to be a gripping end to the Champions League campaign, and before the quarter-finals began, the CBS team took a chance by predicting how it would play out.

Former City defender Micah Richards was up first and it was no surprise that he chose his former club to face Real and Arsenal before conquering Europe for a second successive season.

The first two first legs of the quarter-finals of the tournament began on Tuesday evening.

Micah Richards is of course backing former club Manchester City to go all the way.

Along the way, however, Richards tipped Atletico to face Dortmund and Barcelona en route to a first final in eight years.

CBS host Kate Abdo opted for essentially the same thing, only to pick Barcelona as a finalist alongside eventual winners City.

Jamie Carragher also opted for Pep Guardiola’s side to win the game again, but the Liverpool legend has already produced one of the surprise quarter-final picks after picking Bayern as winners against Arsenal.

Despite their miserable Bundesliga campaign, Carragher believes the German side’s ‘experience’ will be too much for Mikel Arteta and Co.

He concluded his selection by choosing PSG to overtake Barça in the semi-final, then suffering a defeat against City at Wembley Stadium.

After semi-final victories for Carlo Ancelotti’s men and their Clasico rivals Barca, Schmeichel next expects Madrid to claim their 15th European crown.

Finally, it’s up to Arsenal great Thierry Henry to have his say in the affairs of the Champions League this season.

Thierry Henry wasted no time in naming his beloved Arsenal as this season’s winners.

However, unlike his colleagues, he wasted no time in selecting his champion from the start.

“Me, I only care about Arsenal because they are there,” he said. “So I’ll go straight with the champion…Arsenal.”

Arsenal reached their first and only Champions League final when Henry was in their ranks, when they suffered a agonizing extra-time defeat to Barcelona in 2006.

With Dortmund, PSG and Atletico, they have not yet got their hands on the big-eared trophy.
