Jake Paul offers KSI replacement for Mike Tyson for July fight after postponement

Jake Paul has urged KSI to step in and replace Mike Tyson this summer.

Paul and KSI have been bitter rivals for several years in the social media boxing arena, but no showdown has yet materialized despite their regular calls.

The ‘Problem Child’ was due to face heavyweight legend Tyson on July 20, but the clash was postponed after the 58-year-old suffered an ‘ulcer flare-up’ during a flight.

The YouTube star is expected to wait until later in 2024, but he has now drawn up a short-term contingency plan.

He wrote to his rival on Twitter: “KSI’s coach says he’s over 200 pounds right now? So no weight excuses.

“Let’s walk him on July 20, then Paul Tyson in October/November.”

KSI immediately responded: “I already have a fight planned in August.

“Instead of fighting an OAP at the end of the year (no one wants to see that), fight me in December instead.”

KSI has not fought since losing to common opponent Tommy Fury via controversial split decision in October 2023.

A planned meeting had been set at Wembley Stadium in a verbal agreement on social media, but negotiations have stalled.

KSI and Paul have been rivals since “The Nightmare” defeated Paul’s brother Logan in the second of their two meetings in 2019.

For now, Paul’s focus will likely remain on Tyson, 58, who is expected to make a full recovery and be available to compete later in the year.

The former undisputed champion has not fought competitively since 2005 and suffers from several health issues.

Paul issues a statement after the news breaks, insisting he is still ready to fight.

Mike Tyson mocks Jake Paul for his “heavyweight” physique and calls him fat before his rival responds with a Buster Douglas jibe

He said: “I fully support postponing the event so that Mike Tyson has no excuses on fight night.

“My fans know that I only want to face Iron Mike at his best, but let’s make no mistake: When he steps in the ring with me, I’ll be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish.

“Paul vs. Tyson will be one for the ages, and I promise to do my best in this unique match.”
