Jake Paul is expected to face a second former consecutive world champion. Paul will face the former WBC average weight champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., during a June 28 confrontation at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Paul was looking for a fight after a fight proposed with the Megastar Saul box “Canelo” Alvarez fell into the late stagesWith Alvarez in place of a multi-combat agreement with Turki Alshikh in pursuit of a fight with Terence Crawford.
By announcing the fight with Chavez, Paul took the opportunity to shoot in the direction of Alvarez.
“Five years ago, I entered the ring for my professional debut after a single amateur fight, and each fight since was a step towards becoming world champion,” said Paul in a press release from the most precious promotions. “I have just won the most mean man on the planet, and now I go against a former champion that Conman Canelo could not finish. Chávez Jr. is Mexican, but I, El Gallo de Dorado, I have the will and the heart of the great Mexican fighters. On Saturday June 28, live on Dazn Pay-Per-View, I will not do that the Massouci de Chávez Promotions Precious Oscar de la Hoya added to the show.
Paul comes out of a victory over Mike Tyson in a fight that was a huge success at the door, but fell flat when Paul surrmed the legend of heavy goods vehicles, which entered the fight at 58 years old.
Chavez is no stranger to controversy. Son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, he won the WBC average weight championship in 2011 and made three successful defends before a 2012 defeat against Sergio Martínez.
Chavez has never reached these same heights in his career again, although he faced Alvarez in 2017, losing each tour of the fight on the three official dashboards. Chavez also has a history of failure to gain weight and failure of drug screening. In addition, Chavez lost a fight in 2021 against the former UFC champion, Anderson Silva, a man that Paul defeated in 2022.
