Jake Paul beats Mike Perry by TKO, Mike Tyson fight ‘definitely happening’

TAMPA –– Jake Paul has the boxing world by the tail.

Paul (10-1) looked dominant against Mike Perry on Saturday night in front of a raucous sellout crowd at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.

“The Problem Child” knocked Perry down in the first and second rounds before finally settling for the knockout blow in the sixth round, a TKO victory for the rising boxing sensation.

Paul bombarded Perry with a steady stream of punches that thwarted the forward pressure Perry is usually known for.

When Perry was knocked down in the sixth round, the referee quickly declared the fight over and the crowd went wild.

Paul outshot Perry 98-33, 52 of which were jabs that looked particularly frustrating for him to beat.

“He’s tough,” Paul said after the fight, referring to Perry’s tenacity after he was badly taken down in a 1-2 combination. “Mike Tyson, you’re next.”

Perry was dejected after his loss at the post-fight press conference, telling reporters he “thought he would do better” in the fight.

“You were too fast for me, and I couldn’t adjust,” Perry said in the ring after the fight.

Perry went on to tell reporters that Paul had gotten “a lot faster” and the two had already had a practice match.

The boxing world is now looking ahead to a massive fight with 58-year-old Mike Tyson.

The fight is scheduled for November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, which Paul said is “absolutely happening.”

As for Tyson, he is back in training for his boxing return, Paul said, which was initially postponed due to an ulcer flare-up aboard a flight in late May.

While celebrating his victory, Paul also called out UFC light heavyweight champion and decorated kickboxer Alex Pereira.

Pereira had already expressed some interest in the world of boxing, with Paul being one of the biggest draws in the sport.

Most Valuable Promotions tells reporters that massive boxing events like Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia haven’t sold out, but Paul’s drawing power is growing by the day.
