Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), a luxury manufacturer based in the United Kingdom, said that he “on a break” of vehicle expeditions to the United States this month, after the taxation by US President Donald Trump high prices on foreign manufacturing cars.
The company, which exports nearly a quarter of its annual production to the United States, suspended shipments as a short-term action “until longer-term solutions are drawn up, according to a press release sent to the media.
“While we work to resolve new commercial terms with our business partners, we take short -term actions, including a shipping break in April, while we are developing our medium -term plans,” JLR said in a press release to the BBC and other points of sale.
JLR generates more of its revenues in the United States than on any other market, which makes the British automaker particularly vulnerable to the Trump trade war, according to Times, which reported the suspension earlier on Saturday.
Overall, one in eight cars built in the United Kingdom is exported to the United States, the new trade rules imposed this week by Trump has put more than 25,000 direct jobs in the risk manufacturing industry, JLR and the Cowley Mini being the most exposed, according to the Public Policy Research Institute (IPPR).
