Jade Young identified as victim of horror Bondi Junction Westfield stabbing

A mother-of-two killed in horror stabbings at Westfield Bondi Junction is the third victim identified.

Joel Cauchi, 40, fatally stabbed six people and injured at least 12 others during a violent rampage at a busy shopping center Saturday afternoon.

Six people, five women and one man, were killed in the attack and several others were injured.

Jade Young, from Bellevue Hill, in Sydney’s east, was among those who died.

Ms Young worked for architectural firm Double Bay and was a popular member of the Bronte Surf Club.

“This is and will be a difficult time for the community, and we encourage you to seek support from family, friends, other club members or speak to your GP to help you deal with this tragedy,” the club said in a statement.

“We are here to support the community and our deepest condolences go out to everyone affected.”

Mother-of-one Ashlee Good died at St Vincent’s Hospital on Saturday evening after defending her baby daughter from the knife-wielding man.

Dr Good’s nine-month-old daughter was stabbed in the attack and is in a critical but stable condition at Sydney Children’s Hospital.

Dr Good, the daughter of former North Melbourne AFL player and board member Kerry Good, was remembered by her family as a “beautiful mother, daughter, sister, partner , friend” and an “exceptional human in every way”.

Dawn Singleton, daughter of multi-millionaire businessman John Singleton, also lost her life.

The 25-year-old, who posted her fiancé’s proposal on social media in July, worked for Sydney-based fashion brand White Fox Boutique.

The male victim worked as a security guard at the mall, New South Wales Police said.

Two of the six victims were from overseas and had no family in Australia.

At least 12 other people, including nine women, two men and Dr Good’s daughter, were hospitalized after being stabbed in the attack.

NSW Premier Chris Minns said many people ran “into danger”, including Inspector Amy Scott, who shot Cauchi at the scene.

“To the ordinary members of the public who cornered and confronted a murderer in Westfield Shopping Centre, showing what I would call instinctive bravery in terrible circumstances,” he said.

“And of course, Inspector Amy Scott, who ran into danger and showed professionalism and courage and, without a shadow of a doubt, saved many, many lives over the last 24 hours. “

“We are very, very grateful to the men and women who stood up at Bondi Junction.”

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb echoed Mr Minns’ sentiment and praised the state’s first responders for their efforts.

“My thoughts are with the people who were in the shopping center and who, as the Prime Minister said, showed a lot of courage yesterday,” she said.

“But also to the emergency services and of course the police officers who responded to this very traumatic situation.”

NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Anthony Cooke said Cauchi was known to authorities in his home state.

“We have not received any evidence that we have recovered, any intelligence that we have collected that would suggest that this was driven by any particular motivation, ideology or otherwise,” he told reporters on Sunday.

“We know the perpetrator in this case suffered from mental health issues.”
