Boston – The security of the New England Patriots Jabrill Peppers finished testifying on Friday in his trial for assault and drums by denying that he stifled or pushed his accuser.
Peppers, who took the positions of the witnesses for the first time on Thursday, was tried this week for assault and drums with a dangerous weapon. A woman said Thursday that the peppers grabbed her by the neck, slammed her against the wall and pushed her on the stairs after another man called her several times while they were in bed.
With his testimony, the prosecutors have shown several videos of the incident, in which peppers can be seen asking the naked woman to leave her house several times in Braintree, Mass. business and leave after the alleged assault.
The October incident police report supports the woman’s testimony. Police said that she had refused to go to hospital and had been treated at home for her injuries.
“He caught me by the neck and slammed me against the wall,” said the woman, sometimes becoming emotional. “My feet did not touch the wall and he held me against the wall.”
During the counter-examination Thursday, Marc Brofsky, the lawyer for the peppers, challenged the woman’s account and the extent of her injuries. He also noted the civil trial of $ 9.5 million that the woman brought against Peppers, alleging that she was “looking for money”.
Peppers missed seven games since he was placed on the commissioner’s exemption list on October 9 after the incident.
The Patriots signed Peppers, security in his third season with the team, to an extension during the summer. Peppers was initially drafted by Cleveland in 2017 and spent two seasons with the Cleveland Browns before playing for New York Giants for three seasons. His current contract with the Patriots takes place until 2027.
