J & J effort to use bankruptcy to end complaints from Talc cancer rejected

A federal judge rejected Johnson & Johnson’s third attempt to use bankruptcy to set up a trigger fund of several billion dollars to pay women who claim to have cancer with baby powder and other products that would have been vitiated by a toxic substance.

American bankruptcy judge Christopher Lopez On Monday, rejected the bankruptcy of a small J & J unit called Red River Talc following a two -week trial in Houston, noting that a vote of cancer victims on the proposal was defective.
