‘It’s total rubbish’ – Erik ten Hag slams ‘fake’ Manchester United transfer rumor

Erik ten Hag has hit back at reports that all but three of Manchester United’s players are up for sale this summer.

It was reported this week that Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund were the only untouchable players in the Red Devils squad.

Reports claimed that United would be willing to listen to offers for any other player in the squad.

Ten Hag was asked about the reports during his press conference and called them “false.”

“It’s a joke,” he said. “Since I’ve been working here, every summer, every window, I think there are 200 players that Manchester United are interested in. We’ve done some research. That’s not true.

“And also, every summer we sell all the players in our team, so you (in the media) are making headlines, which is wrong.

“I think you have to be calm and also take some responsibility when you make such a headline. Think, find a good source if there is some truth in it and it’s totally bullshit.”

Bruno Fernandes has become the first Man United player to speak about his future, insisting he is happy at Old Trafford.

He hinted he could consider his future at the club after Euro 2024.

Marcus Rashford is reportedly among those up for sale and the failed striker will be absent again when United return to Premier League action at Crystal Palace on Monday.

talkSPORT understands, however, that the club are not actively trying to push Rashford out of the door.

“I can’t say (when he will return),” Ten Hag said. “So it was his absence last week against Sheffield, after Coventry, so far his problem is not cured.”

Rashford joins Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane on the sidelines for a match that Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes are doubts for.

“Scott hasn’t trained so far this week, but I expect him back in training on Saturday and then we’ll have to see if he’s available 100 percent or for part of the game,” said Ten Hag.

“After the game (against Burnley last weekend) we had a problem with Bruno, so he is doubtful for Monday. But he will fight to come into this game. We all know Bruno, never rule him out for no matches, so he does his best to be available.

“Jonny Evans came back today for team training and then we will see. Tomorrow we will be away and we still have two days until the match. Anthony Martial was partly at team training .”

Manchester United vs Crystal Palace will be shown live on talkSPORT on Monday, with kick-off at 8pm.
