The suspect is accused of having caused tens of thousands of dollars in Teslas damage.
Minneapolis – A man would have been linked to six different incidents involving vandalism to Tesla vehicles in Minneapolis is in detention.
The police said Thursday afternoon that the suspect could face crime charges for allegedly caused more than $ 21,000 of damage to targeted vehicles.
Minneapolis police chief Brian O’Hara said the police followed the suspect using the video recorded by the Teslas.
“Essentially, Teslas rolls video cameras,” said the chef. “And just frankly, it’s quite stupid … There is a high quality video on all these cars. He commits a crime with a projector on you while the video plays.”
O’Hara has credited the investigating SGT on the crimes of ancient property. Rob Illetchko with the breakdown of the case, telling journalists that the sergeant was the same investigator who had cracked a huge mobile phone flight ring in the city center, which involved accessing and emptying bank accounts and raising the victims’ credit cards.
MPD says they try to find out if the man in police custody is involved in cases of additional vandalism, while studying other Tesla incidents led by various suspects.
There has been an increase at the national level of vandalism incidents involving Teslas since the CEO of Elon Musk was recruited by President Donald Trump to direct his new department of government efficiency (DOGE) and began to make deep cuts in offices, programs and the endowment of the federal government.
Trump posted on his social networks that anyone who vandalizes a Tesla should be sentenced to 20 years in prison, and suggested that these sorrows may be sent to Salvador to serve their time.
Chef O’Hara was not talking about a possible reason, but told journalists that the suspect is a minneapolis resident who does not seem to have a criminal record. The video of the cars that were vandalized show that the man was accompanied by his dog while committing part of vandalism.
