It was sunk near Santa Monica Pier. Finding justice can be “ mission impossible ”

The parents of Shesese Allen fear never to see justice, because the man accused of having killed their daughter has disappeared.

On the night of October 17, the police said that Yuyang Sun, 21, a Chinese national, made circles with his SUV in the sand, illuminated by the Santa Monica pier nearby, when he ran on Allen, who was perhaps sleeping on the beach. Sun was questioned on the scene and finally reserved for suspicions of driving driving and guilty manslaughter.

Shesese Allen’s family said they were still attracted to California – especially the coast. “She felt comfortable there,” said her father, Antron Allen.

Los Angeles County prosecutors then raised the accusation of murder, but for Allen’s family, it was little consolation.

Only a few days after a parent posted a deposit of $ 25,000 from Sun, releasing the guard, the authorities have lost track of him and issued an arrest warrant. He did not return his passport or register for an ankle instructor as was sentenced by the court. The authorities say he may have returned to China.

“We didn’t have my daughter yet and he was already standing and gone,” Allen’s mother Eugenia Tate told Times in an interview. “He really had no consequences on what he did.”

It would take a monumental effort for Sun to appear in an American courtroom, said a familiar expert with the extradition process.

“I do not want to seem to be the mission impossible, but that’s what they look at,” said David Weinstein, a former federal prosecutor who worked on several extradition cases in the southern district of Florida.

Weinstein said that bringing back a fugitive to return from a non -exclusive country like China would be extremely complicated and would involve the work of federal agencies and foreign diplomats.

The United States can ask to be alerted if a fugitive travel abroad, but there is not much else to do, said Weinstein. The scenarios that imply that the sun is expelled by China or the Americans going to stop it to face accusations in Allen’s death are both unrealistic, he said.

When Sun was arrested for the first time, the prosecutors said they were fearing to flee, then they asked that his deposit went to $ 100,000 and the court orders him to wear an ankle instructor. But his deposit was set at $ 25,000, according to the Los Angeles County prosecutor’s office.

You don’t know exactly when the sun has left the United States.

“We will continue to request justice from the victim and his family and to work tirelessly to hold the responsible defendant,” the district prosecutor’s office said in a statement. “Although our office can consult and provide information if necessary, after a California court issues an extradition mandate, the extradition process is managed by federal agencies.”

While Allen’s family is waiting for development on the international front, they continue to cry.

Shesese Moniqua Allen, or “Rese” as his family called him, has always been attracted to California – in particular the coast, said his family.

Like so many others, she saw endless possibilities in the Golden State and found a sanctuary at the beach, said her father, Antron Allen.

“She felt comfortable there,” he said. “She was not there. It was one of her comfortable places on the beach.”

Before Allen’s identification, police said they were homeless. But Allen’s family said they lived in an apartment about two kilometers from the beach and worked as a customer service representative for the American postal service.

His parents said they planned to visit him last November, a combined visit to Thanksgiving and his 35th anniversary. Instead, they organized its funeral.

“Some days are worse than others. We think of our daughter every day,” said Eugenia Tate while her voice broke with emotion.

Parents draw the strength of friends, family, Christian faith and knowledge that their daughter was an honest person who has always tried to do the right thing. Allen was generally shy, but if she was surrounded by the right people, she would sing, dance and make jokes, said her family.

When she was younger, she sang her little sister, Sha’nye.

A song was a particular favorite – the theme song of “The Golden Girls”, which understands the lyrics “thank you for being a friend”.

“Why are you singing this old lady’s song to a new baby?” His mother asked.

His daughter laughed and said, “Because it appeared to her.”

On March 18, Allen’s family filed a complaint against the city of Santa Monica, a pioneer of a trial.

The family is looking for $ 10 million for pain and suffering, funeral expenses and other expenses resulting from Allen’s death.

The city did not respond to requests for comments.
