Jerusalem (AP) – More than a dozen Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian village in the south of the West Bank occupied by Israeli on Friday, beating residents with sticks and rocks, in a captured incident with rare clarity by security cameras. The video obtained by AP and the testimonies of Palestinian witnesses seemed to come into conflict with the account of the attack provided by the police and the Israeli soldiers, who arrested more than 20 Palestinians.
The violence in the village of Jinba follows an attack of settlers earlier this week in a neighboring village in which Hamdan Ballal, a Palestinian The co -director of the Oscar -winning documentary “No other land”, was left bloody and bruised before being held by Israeli soldiers for about 20 hours.
Videos provide unusually striking images of the type of settlers that Palestinians in the West Bank now say frequently. They say that radical Jewish settlers are rarely, or even never faced with repercussions for having attacked the Palestinian communities, while the Palestinians are often gathered en masse and detained by Israeli forces.
The colonists descend to Jinba
AP obtained images of two security cameras belonging to the Al-Amur family, whose house was attacked. Images of a camera show a jeep, mountain bike and a white van to speed up to the edge of the village.
A number of settlers grab them and come out of the frame, and the cries of Palestinian women can be heard. The colonists then come back in sight, and at least 15 of them mount a slope, approaching the camera.
Many are masked, at least three transport bats or sticks, and one is armed with an assault rifle. We can be seen throwing a rock, then leaning to collect more.
The matriarch of the Al-Amur family, Oula Awad, said that she had seen the colonists approach her house between 8:00 am and 9:00 am, while she was doing the laundry outside with her daughter. Her son, Qusai, 17, and her husband, Aziz, 63, will prepare to prepare for the Ramadan prayers when the settlers stopped in vehicles and emerged.

In security images taken from a different camera from the house, she and her daughter, Handa, 16, are seen howl and wave clothes in the air, calling for help. At one point, Awad makes a movement by waving his arms. It is not clear if she throws something in a colonist rushing towards her.
The settlers are then seen convergent on Qusai. A colonist begins to hit him with a stick as he tries to run away. Another colonist breaks his head with a rock, sending it to the ground. Four settlers then kicked and beat him before fleeing.

Awad said the colonists had locked her and her daughter in a side room when they beat her younger son, Ahmad, and her husband Aziz.
“They entered the room and hit the windows,” said Awad. They tried to burn the furniture. “My husband was standing on the stairs and they started beating him.”
A video taken by Qusai and shared with AP showed Ahmad on the ground with a head laceration. Aziz is nearby, his bloody face.

Five Palestinians stay in hospitals. Aziz underwent a chest injury and has undergone surgery for skull fractures; Ahmed, 16, is in intensive care. Qusai has undergone a broken arm, bruises and cuts. Another villager, Maher Mohammed, had cuts and bruises, just like her son Osama, who also underwent kidney exams.
Nidal Younis, the chief of Masafer Yatta Village Council, witnessed part of the attack and was detained by the police for two hours later. He said that the soldiers who arrived on the scene following the attack prevented the Palestinians from neighboring villages from helping and threw dizzy grenades in the houses, an assertion to which the army did not respond.
Police and soldiers provide a contradictory account
Following the incident, Israeli police said they owned 22 Palestinians from the village suspected of launching stone and brought them to a more in -depth investigation.
They said that the Palestinians had attacked two shepherds of nearby settlers, injuring them slightly.
“The security forces seriously consider the series of attacks in the region and will take solid measures to translate the people involved in justice,” the police said. They did not respond when they were asked by the AP why no Israeli civilian was arrested.
The army gave a somewhat different account, saying that an Israeli civilian had been attacked and injured by activists near an Israeli colony.
Then, he said that “a violent confrontation developed between a number of Israeli civilians and Palestinians”, injuring another Israeli civilian.
Masafer Yatta was appointed by the Israeli army as a shooting area of the shooting in the 1980s, and the army ordered the expulsion of residents, mainly of the Arab Bedouins. About 1,000 residents remained largely in place, but the soldiers come regularly to demolish houses, tents, water tanks and olive orchards.
Palestinians and rights groups say that Israeli forces look down or intervene on behalf of the settlers.
