Thousands of people come together demanding the end of the war and the release of Israeli captives in Gaza.
Thousands of Israelis have rallied in the center of Tel Aviv, calling on the government to end the war against Gaza and to guarantee the immediate release of the Israeli captives held in the besieged Palestinian enclave.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that in Tel Aviv, the Family Forum and the missing families, an Israeli campaign group, held its weekly rally on Saturday in “Hostages Square”, while another demonstration of families of captives takes place outside the Israeli military seat.
A separate anti -government demonstration also occurred in Habima Square in Tel Aviv.
The Times of Israel reported that Shai Mozes, whose parents were selected captive and released in separate exchange agreements, told the crowd during the demonstration to Habima Square that the “true enemy of Israel was not Hamas, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who destroys Israel as a Jewish and democrat”.
Hamdah Salhut of Al Jazeera, reporting from Amman, Jordan, said that “family members of Israeli captives held in Gaza say that Netanyahu always prolongs war for personal and political purposes, and that he is the one who does not want to compromise when it is a kind of what it is”.
“There are still 59 captives held in Gaza, including 35, whose Israeli officials say they are confirmed dead, and 21 who are alleged alive, and three whose fate is still unknown,” she said.
“Israeli officials say that they will extend their operations to Gaza and not go towards a kind of ceasefire for the moment, saying that the best way to cause the release of these captives is by military means, which family members of the captives and most of the Israeli company are not in agreement,” she said.
After Netanyahu announced on Monday an extended offensive in the Gaza Strip, the Smarting and Smart Families forum criticized this decision in a statement, claiming that the plan “sacrifices” those who are always held in Palestinian territory.
Haaretz also pointed out that demonstrations were planned in other cities, including Jerusalem, Haifa and Beersheba, as well as in dozens of other sites and intersections across Israel.
