In an interview with Polish news channel TVP World on Wednesday, Israeli Ambassador to Poland Yacov Livne expressed his “deep regret” for the killings. “We will investigate what happened, understand what really happened and take all possible measures to ensure that such things do not happen again,” he said.
Tusk condemned the lack of “simple and humane apologies” from Livne. “It really doesn’t cost anything,” he said.
On Wednesday, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Szejna summoned the Israeli ambassador to discuss Polish-Israeli relations after the strike.
Poland and Israel have tried in recent years to repair strained diplomatic relations, which deteriorated after the previous nationalist government in Warsaw introduced a law limiting Jews’ ability to recover World War II property.
