The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it would move the Palestinians to the Southern Gaza Strip before a renewed offensive.
The announcement comes a few days after Israel said she would launch an offensive to take control of Northern Gaza City.
The Israeli military agency in charge of civil affairs in the Palestinian territories, known as the Cogat, said that the supply of tents in Gaza would resume on Sunday.
He indicated that the refuge equipment would be transported via the passage to Kerem Shalom by the United Nations and international aid organizations after the Inspectorate of Staff of the Israeli Defense Ministry.
What else do we know about Israel?
The Israeli army did not specify the beginning of the Palestinian movement.
Defense Minister Israel Katz said that “we are now at the discussion stadium to finalize the plan to defeat Hamas in Gaza”.
Israeli forces have increased operations on the outskirts of Gaza City, including in the districts of Zeitoun and Shejaiya.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that the Palestinians would be moved to what he described as “safe areas”. He also described Gaza City as the final bastion of the Hamas militant group.
Gaza City was the most populous urban center in the Palestinian enclave until most of its population is moved to the offensive of Israel.
Hostage families call for demonstrations
Meanwhile, a group representing the families of the hostages held in Gaza urged the Israelis to descend on the streets on Sunday and to call an agreement leading to the end of the war and to the release of all the remaining hostages.
Some 251 people were taken hostage during Hamas attacks against southern Israel on October 7, 2023. According to Israeli authorities, 20 of the 50 remaining hostages in Gaza are still alive.
About 1,200 people, most civilians were killed during attacks.
The offensive that followed from Israel to Gaza killed more than 61,000 Palestinians, according to the Ministry of Health managed by Gaza, with independent studies saying that the toll could much higher.
