Friday, the Israelis and the Palestinians were looking forward to the next stage of the 42-day Gaza ceasefire and the hostages for the catch-which should take place the next day-while the truce between Israel and Hamas seemed Have held your first week.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hamas was to send the names of four female hostages which he would publish on Saturday. In response, Israel should publish the names of the more than 100 Palestinian prisoners which he would release in exchange.
Analysts said the coming weekend would be a crucial test for the agreement.
The truce also stipulated that Israeli forces should partly withdraw from a large area in the Gaza center to allow hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians to start returning home in the devastated north.
And Hamas is also committed to providing Israel on the state of the remaining hostages to Israel on Saturday that will be published during the six -week break, two Israeli officials said, who spoke subject to anonymity to discuss the sensitive diplomacy.
Israel has long asked to know what hostages were still alive after more than a year in captivity in Gaza. Hamas refused to provide the information, some officials arguing that they could not even confirm their status before a truce allows its combatants to move and communicate freely.
Among the four women to be released, Hamas had to include at least some Israeli soldiers who were kidnapped in his assault on October 7, 2023, who sparked the war. According to the cease-fire agreement, the release of hostages of soldiers would force Israel to release Palestinians serving long prison sentences for having committed deadly attacks, which caused a dismay in Israel.
