A number of Big Lots stores are expected to open next week.
After announcing that the store openings would come in waves in 2025, more than 70 stores are planned to reopen on a national scale on May 15, only two weeks after 60 stores opened in a dozen states on May 1.
The two May cycles of the store openings occur in the heels of nine large lots in six states on April 10. Another opening series is expected to take place in early June.
The openings occur months after Big Lots announced its sale to Gordon Brothers Retail Partners. As part of the agreement, variety wholesalers have acquired 219 Big Lots stores, as well as two distribution centers.
“We are delighted to bring back the big lots! Brand to life by offering more offers than ever, many famous brands and a new clothing department for the whole family,” the CEO of Variety, Lisa Seigies, a press release on April 4, said.
The openings of large lots on May 15 should take place in 13 states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Caroline, Tennessee, Virginie and Virginie-Western.
In addition to the variety wholesalers, other retailers have announced the purchase of large lots. Lot of Ocean State, based in Rhode Island, announced in March that it would buy 15 major sites from New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Maine and Vermont.
Earlier in February, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet said that she would buy 40 old Big Lots store places.
