Is Suella Braverman accelerating towards an exit from the government? – podcasting | News
Home Secretary Suella Braverman was accused this week of breaking cabinet code by asking civil servants to help her evade a speeding fine by running a private speed awareness course . Civil servants are supposed to be politically neutral and deal only with government policies, not the personal affairs of ministers.
As Senior Political Correspondent Aubrey Allegretti recount Nosheen IqbalBraverman says she accepted a fine and points on her license, but she denies breaking the departmental code.
The row comes at a delicate time for her and the prime minister. Braverman was accused last week of taking steps to confront a rival leadership bid with a conference speech on national conservatism. Meanwhile, on Thursday, she will be pressured to explain to those in her party wing how net migration has risen so sharply despite a stated aim to reduce it.
