The American Grand Master Hans Niemann had recently challenged Daniil Dubov of Russia to a confrontation in Blitz of 18 games on the latter’s home lawn, the stipulation being that the loser of the game had to undergo a polygraph test of lie. Despite a fiery fight and took the deep battle, Niemann ended up losing the match that took place over two days by a margin of 9.5-8.5.

And just to make it a little more precise, the 28 -year -old Russian GM plans to wonder if Niemann has cheated “in the past 5 years” or not.

Niemann, after all, was involved in one of the greatest scandals in chess history after being accused of having cheated by Magnus Carlsen, n ° 1 in the world, during the Sinquefield Cup in St Louis, in the United States in 2022. It was after Carlsen, who was the world champion of Niemann.

The controversial American GM did not take too well the accusation of the Norwegian chess icon – he responded with a federal trial of $ 100 million against Carlsen, compatriot Hikaru Nakamura as well as Chess.com.

The two parties, however, had reached a regulation the following year, after which the case was closed – at least legally speaking, Niemann and Carlsen continuing to target themselves verbally to date. The American went so far as to accuse Carlsen of trying to “ruin his life”.

While Niemann has always denied the accusation of the Sinquefield Cup of Carlsen for more than two years since the sadly famous incident, he admitted having three times cheated at an early age.

Dubov’s question will therefore take into account the Sinquefield 2022 Cup, Niemann will not be required to confirm whether or not cheated in this specific event.
