Iraqi fighters launch cruise missile strike against Israeli air base

A frame grab from a video released by the Iraqi Islamic Resistance shows the moment the group fires a cruise missile towards Ramon Air Base in the southwestern part of the occupied territories.

The Iraqi Islamic Resistance announced it had launched a cruise missile strike against an air base in the southwestern part of the occupied territories as part of another pro-Palestinian operation.

The coordination group of anti-terrorist fighters made the announcement in a press release on Saturday.

It specifies that the target is “Ramon Air Base” and the projectile involved is “an advanced Aqrab cruise missile”.

The air base currently hosts three squadrons of warplanes and two squadrons of combat helicopters.

The operation, declared the Iraqi coalition, is “a continuation of our approach of resistance to the occupation, of support for our people in Gaza and in response to the massacres committed by the usurping entity against Palestinian civilians, especially children, women and the elderly.”

The group has carried out numerous such operations against the occupied territories since October 7 last year, when the Israeli regime launched a genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.

At least 34,971 people died in the Israeli genocide which began following a reprisal operation by Gaza resistance movements. Around 78,641 other people were also injured in the brutal military attack, while at least 7,000 people are missing.

The Iraqi resistance concluded its statement by pledging to “continue striking enemy strongholds.”

On Friday, Qais al-Khazali, secretary general of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq movement, a component of the Iraqi resistance, stressed that Iraqi fighters were in a state of war with the occupying regime.

“There is no need for the Iraqi government to adopt a military stance on the Palestinian issue, as resistance groups have assumed such a role in place of the government and on behalf of the Iraqi people,” he added.
