Iran launches drone barrage towards Israel

Iran has launched drones – perhaps hundreds – towards Israel. The drones were launched within the last hour but could take several more hours to arrive.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards confirmed the attack.

The Israelis will attempt to intercept the drones before their arrival. “We are tracking the threat through airspace, it is a threat that will take a few hours to reach Israeli territory,” said Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli army. The United States will undoubtedly help.

What is not yet clear is whether Iran will also launch ballistic missiles or another type of strike to coincide with its arrival.

Israel’s Channel 12 television reports that the salvo is expected to reach Israel around 2 a.m. Sunday, about two hours from now.

Earlier on Saturday, Iran’s official IRNA news agency reported that a guards helicopter boarded and took the Portuguese-flagged MSC Aries, which is partly owned by an Israeli billionaire, into Iranian waters.

The first question will be where the attacks are targeting and the second will be the Israeli response.
