iPhone Plus follows path of iPhone mini after latest update this fall

Earlier this month, we saw a report from Jeff Pu predicting that the iPhone 16 lineup will be the last to offer a Plus model. Now a new report from Information detailing what the high-end iPhone 17 will look like confirms that the iPhone 16 Plus will be the last of its kind.

The Plus size for iPhone debuted in 2022 with the iPhone 14 line as an option for customers wanting a larger screen without having to upgrade to the high-end Pro model.

This continued with the iPhone 15 Plus and Apple is expected to ship the iPhone 16 Plus with its 2024 smartphones. However, we have another report that the 16 Plus will be the last year for the larger, more affordable model.

If this is true, the Plus version will have been three years old, one more than the iPhone mini.

The new report from Information says the Plus replacement will be “considerably thinner” than current iPhones with other upgrades like a redesigned camera system, and will be more expensive than the Pro Max.

Jeff Pu described the new 2025 iPhone option as the “iPhone 17 Slim,” but didn’t share the same details as Information about the top-of-the-line 2026 model.

One of the main reasons Apple discontinued the iPhone Plus in 2025 is that the model is selling “below expectations”, said Information anonymous sources.

What do you think? Sad to see the iPhone Plus disappear? Or do you prefer other models/are you excited to see a new ultra-thin iPhone in 2026? Share your opinion in the comments!
