Apple has just released iOS 18.3 beta 2. Although so far we haven’t seen many changes in iOS 18.3, the latest beta brings a fix for the Calculator app that has been frequently requested since the redesign. iOS 18.
Repeat operations are now possible again after removing iOS 18
When Apple released iOS and iPadOS 18 in September, the updates brought small and big changes to a wide variety of system apps.
The calculator was one of them.
Apple brought Calculator to iPad for the first time, but also took the opportunity to make some changes to the app on iPhone.
However, not all of these changes have been well received.
One negative change in particular was the removal of support for repeat operations.
Previously, during a calculation, you could press the equals button multiple times to perform further calculations.
For example, if you enter 5 x 8 and press equals, you will see the answer, 40. But you can then press equals again to have 40 multiplied by 8 again. This answer of 320 could then be multiplied by again 8 by pressing the equal button again.
iOS 18 removed this behavior, but it has now been restored in iOS 18.3 beta 2.
You can press the equals button again and again to perform new operations as you wish.
