Investigation continues into today’s Antioch High School cafeteria shooting

Homicide Unit detectives along with their law enforcement partners within MNPD and federal and state agencies are reviewing highly concerning online writings and social media posts related to Solomon Henderson, 17 years, as they work to establish the motive behind Henderson’s shooting this morning. in the Antioch High School cafeteria. Josselin Corea Escalante, 16, was fatally injured. A 17-year-old student was scratched on the arm. He was treated and released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Henderson died from a gunshot wound to the head.

So far, the investigation has not established a link between Henderson and the two shooting victims. They may have been hit by his random shots in the cafeteria.

The two school resource officers assigned to Antioch High School were in another part of the building when the gunfire erupted. They rushed to the cafeteria and arrived just after Henderson killed himself.

“On behalf of this entire police department, I extend our sincere condolences to the students, parents and staff of Antioch High,” said Chief John Drake. “Our officers and advisors will work to participate in the healing process in the days and weeks to come.”

As for questions regarding any prior police interactions with Henderson, MNPD will not be at liberty to answer them, as Tennessee law protects juvenile information in most law enforcement matters.
