The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the home and found a woman with gunshot wounds. Her teenage son and two 5-year-old boys were also at home, deputies said.
The woman was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition, according to deputies.
“My wife is going to be very, very upset,” Rushton said. “We have been here for 15 years. A very quiet area and I’m a retired firefighter and it’s peaceful. This will upset us enormously, because it is a very quiet street.
According to the 15-year-old, three intruders entered the house through a side window and punched him in the back of the head before shooting his mother. The culprits then fled and were not found, sheriff’s officials said.
