Intimate Videos Stolen From T-Mobile Customer: “Literally Felt Devastated”

SPRING, Texas (KTRK) – A woman lays negligence, deception and invasion of privacy charges against cell phone provider T-Mobile and a former employee.

She said she went to a T-Mobile store to get an upgrade, only to find that a store employee had sent private videos to herself from her phone.

The taped confrontation resulted in an apology, but the victim said it was not enough.

The woman, who asked ABC13 not to identify her, said she was mourning the death of her grandfather and wanted to treat herself with a phone upgrade in August.

She said she would never have known what happened if her Apple Watch hadn’t alerted her. He showed her the messages the employee is accused of sending from his phone to his own device.

It is now the subject of a criminal investigation and T-Mobile faces legal action.
“I don’t know if you’ve sent each other videos from my phone to your phone, but if you don’t delete them now, I’ll call your manager,” the woman told the former employee.

The incident took place at a T-Mobile store inside the HEB on Spring Cypress Road.

“I literally felt devastated, like ‘What just happened?’ My emotions were everywhere, ”she said. “I was shocked more than anything.”

The woman said the employee entered a hidden folder on her phone and sent two intimate and private videos to herself.

During the confrontation that was recorded, she asked the employee to delete the videos.

“Show me right away that you deleted them, or I’ll call your manager. It’s scary as (expletive),” you can hear him say.

After that, the man apologized.

The woman has now filed a police report and hired a lawyer.

“T-Mobile and the store franchisee should be held responsible for the negligent hiring and supervision of this person,” said Jesse S. Corona, managing counsel at the law firm Corona.

T-Mobile sent ABC13 a statement about the incident.

“We take customer privacy seriously. We contacted the dealership about this situation and learned that the person involved is no longer employed,” T-Mobile officials said.

The woman said beyond losing her job, she wanted him to be held accountable and for others to know that their private information may not be as secure as they think it is.

“You don’t know how long it’s been happening, or who else he’s been doing this to,” she said.
