Intel says it has found the problem causing 13th and 14th generation processors to crash

Intel says it has found the source of widespread instability issues affecting its 13th and 14th generation Core processors. In an update released Monday, Intel confirmed that the processors are experiencing “high operating stress” and that a fix is ​​being rolled out.

“We have determined that high operating voltage is causing instability issues in some 13th and 14th generation desktop processors,” Intel employee Thomas Hannaford wrote on the company’s forum. “Our analysis of returned processors confirms that the high operating voltage is caused by a microcode algorithm that causes incorrect voltage requests to the processor.”

Intel said it was working on releasing a microcode fix to motherboard manufacturers in mid-August, and that anyone affected by the issue should contact Intel support in the meantime. The chipmaker first confirmed it was investigating the issue in April after receiving reports from Intel Core i9-13900K and i9-14900K owners experiencing frequent game crashes.
