The initiate of the NBC Sports Bay region, Matt Maiocco, joined the radio station in the Baie KNBR region on Thursday morning to share the latest contractual negotiations between the 49ers of San Francisco and the quarter Brock Purdy.
Much of what Maiocco said could be deduced by the fact that Purdy has not yet accepted conducted on a new agreement. However, with the 49ers of the players who should go to the team next week, a few days before the draft of the NFL 2025, all new could be considered relevant.
“The last one is that the 49ers made an offer. It is sort of seated there,” said Maiocco. “Brock Purdy and his camp – and I do not know how much Brock is involved. I am sure that the agent protects him from many of these things. But the offer that the 49ers have made is not the one that the side of Brock Purdy is inclined to take at this stage, and they will not.”
Most expect Purdy to get a contract north of $ 50 million a year, although reports – usually – suggest that the 49ers have not yet reached this range. The two parties keeping private negotiations, a large part of the chatter remains speculative.
“So it’s just about trying to find this good number,” said Maiocco. “I think that the Purdy camp, we have the impression that the market is put. The market is what it is, and they believe that it won it. You know, Jed York referred to Brock Purdy a few weeks ago as a quarter of the Top 10, so we will see how it goes.
“But at the moment, of my understanding, it does not seem that something is close. There will still be, I am sure, a few other offers exchanged here in the coming weeks. Everyone seems convinced that it will be finally done, but it’s just a bit of back and forth.”
Maiocco also stressed that the 49ers do not rush into high -level extensions. In recent years, contractual interviews with Brandon Aiyuk, Nick Bosa and Deebo Samuel have spread late in the offseason, often arousing the drama that the team prefers to avoid. Of course, Purdy looks like someone who prefers to avoid drama.
“I am not sure that there is much more that could occur on the quarter market which would change the way in which this agreement would be structured or on average per year or as a signature bonus,” concluded Maiocco. “So it’s a process, and nothing has changed in the past two weeks.”
