Tannenbaum had known Glenn since 1997, when Glenn was the Cornerback Pro Bowl des Jets and Tannenbaum began as director of the team’s players. In 2012, Glenn returned as a scout, and he said to Tannenbaum – then the GM of the team – he thought he wanted to be Managing Director. The team wanted to help him. What Tannenbaum remembered this conversation was that Glenn was the only former player to have asked if the team would pay him to get an MBA, the jets said yes, but after that, Glenn went to the ‘Training and started its long ascent at the top, which included stays to the staff of Cleveland Browns coaches, in the New Orleans and, more recently, a defensive coordinator for the Lions of Detroit.
Once, Elhai asked Woody Johnson, if he could take any coach of any sport and give this person’s attributes to the Jets de New York jets, who would choose. The two agreed: Bill Parcels.
Woody Johnson said that when the process started, he had no idea who would end up with work. In the end, it was the person that Parcels had supervised all these years – these are plots that told Glenn that he had to start as a scout if he finally wanted to train – and recommended in Tannenbaum.
“One thing about this process is that the winning candidate emerges,” said Woody Johnson. “I did not know at the beginning that would emerge. He emerged, and in the end – they were all very talented – one was more appropriate and better for the New York jets. This is the one we chose.”
During the research, the jets spoke to more than 20 people from the whole career of Glenn. At the same time, the coach clearly showed the jets that he wanted their work – that, because the jets had lost in this AFC championship match that Parcels had led them, Glenn said there were any unfinished affairs to finish. In the end, the jets left, thinking that Glenn was a single candidate, someone who, as a player and coach, had been with teams when they were at their buttocks, during the reconstructions and, finally, During a sustained success. The jets hope to get this from Glenn, although they recognize that there will probably be bumps on the road. However, two months, according to them, was a long time spent for such a large rental.
“It was the best process,” said Christopher Johnson. “I have experienced a few – it seems different to me. We really didn’t cut the corners. We have made an additional effort. I can’t wait for football.”
