Dion shared that it had been diagnosed with a very rare “progressive neurological disorder” called the rigid person’s syndrome, surely the first time that most people have heard of it.
“As you know, I have always been an open book,” she said in an Instagram video. “I was not ready to say anything before, but I am ready now. I am facing problems with my health for a long time, and it was really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything I experienced.”
She suffered from muscular spasms that affected “all aspects” of her daily life, said Dion, which makes it difficult to walk sometimes and, the saddest of all, it was going to be impossible for her to go back on tour while she had planned.
“I work hard with my sports medicine therapist every day to strengthen my strength and my ability to achieve again,” said Dion. “But I have to admit that it was difficult.”
According to the National Institutes of Health, symptoms include steep muscles in chest, arms and legs, and greater sensitivity to noise, touch and emotional distress, which can all trigger muscle spasms.
