Jurgen Klopp’s going away party was just as iconic as his Liverpool reign as he danced on stage to a John Barnes rap.
Its departure took place at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, where those in attendance enjoyed a sit-down meal before dancing the night away.
That’s when Reds icon Barnes took to the stage and performed ‘The Anfield rap’, while Klopp headed over to dance alongside him with a big smile on his face.
The German boss took charge of his final match on Sunday afternoon as the Reds recorded a 2-0 win over Wolves at Anfield.
While the match itself was secondary, the occasion was next level as fans paid a moving tribute to Klopp.
As well as lighting flares outside the stadium, fans unveiled a tribute reading “Jurgen” inside the pitch.
Klopp was then given a huge farewell on the Anfield pitch and prompted fans to serenade new boss Arne Slot in a show of support.
But in addition to the public farewell, the former Borussia Dortmund manager had a special message for his players privately in the locker room after the match.
“I love you, that’s all I can say,” he told the team while standing in the middle of the locker room.
“The football you are capable of playing is absolutely ridiculous, I can’t wait. Watching you, evolving, taking the next steps, becoming third.
“I don’t even know who became champion yet, City? The only one who stopped them was us and you can do it again.
“I said it this morning, there may be people who say: ‘That’s not enough’, I tell you, they have no idea about football.
“Could you have done better in a few moments?” Yes. Of course, it’s always possible. But have you done better than you can usually expect? Oh yes!
“Because it takes more time to become a top team again, and you did it (clicks fingers) like that.
“That’s why expectations went through the roof, and then we couldn’t keep up with them. That’s a bit the problem.
“But apart from that, becoming third in the first season of Liverpool 2.0, and now, with new energy from outside, for you, with new influences, with new boosts, with new (chances to) do your proofs, it’s good to squeeze everything out of your career.
“Then it’s already too much. I want to tell you that I love you, it was absolutely exceptional.
“Thank you for the journey, I am so proud of you and I am so proud to have been allowed to be a part of it.
“Thank you so much, there are no limits for you boys. THANKS.”
It’s not yet clear what the future holds for Klopp, but after the launch of a new Instagram account, millions of football fans will be eager to see what’s next.
