Innocent woman shot dead after being caught in crossfire between ‘rival gangs’ in front of terrified children on north London street

This is the moment an innocent woman was shot dead after being caught in a shootout between “rival gangs”.

CCTV obtained by MailOnline shows the victim sprawled on the pavement after being shot in the leg last night in Stamford Hill, north London.

The shocking incident happened around 7.40pm as families with young children were walking along Reizel Close. However, CCTV shows it was 6:40 p.m. as the system was not updating as the clocks moved forward.

Footage shows how the occupants of two cars – one of which does not appear to have a number plate – shot each other while stuck in traffic on a busy street, before fleeing.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was walking down the street with two others when he was shot before collapsing on the pavement as shocked passers-by ran to his aid.

She was rushed to a major trauma center in east London, where her injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.

She then collapsed on the pavement after being hit in the leg by a bullet last night on a busy north London street.

Police were still present at the scene of the attack Wednesday morning, with a large cordon in place. Three green emergency bags were still on the sidewalk near where the woman had been treated.

Police confirmed that the victim was not the intended target.

A witness, who did not wish to be named for fear of reprisals, told MailOnline: ‘You could see she bent over and then she was lying on the floor.

The two people in front of her didn’t know what to do, they came and went. It happened very quickly,” they said.

A neighbor in a residential block overlooking Reizel Close said his wife heard “two cracks” as the horror incident unfolded.

The 52-year-old said: “My wife heard two cracks and initially thought it was fireworks. Then we found out a woman had been shot, which was shocking because we had a daughter at the time.

Another witness, Sayed Popal, 29, heard two blasts as he brought fruit and vegetables to his nearby corner store before falling silent.

He said: I heard two gunshots, then I saw a woman on the ground and people screaming and trying to help her. There was a big group.

“She looked bad, her head was on the sidewalk. The police and the ambulance arrived very quickly.

Emergency services arrived about four minutes after the victim hit the ground, according to the footage.

Last night, armed police descended on the neighborhood to search for the shooter, who remains at large.

Emergency crews, including the air ambulance, rushed to join police at the scene last night as she was rushed to hospital.

A source at the scene last night told MailOnline that two cars were aiming guns at each other at the time of the shooting, and that the woman was an “innocent bystander” caught in the crossfire.

It is not clear how many shots were fired or whether they came from two cars or one and the Met said it was “trying to establish the circumstances of this incident”.

The witness added that one of the cars sped off towards Clapton Common, a park half a mile from the scene, where two more shots were reportedly heard.

Residents are said to be in shock, with one saying they heard the shooting was the result of a fight because there was “cold blood”.

A woman at the scene, whose apartment overlooks the police cordon, said she was told to “go inside” last night, fearing the shooters would return.

The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I heard a lot of noise last night so I went out into my garden.

“But the police told me to go inside in case the shooter or shooters were still around.

“I generally feel safe here, so I’m quite shocked. But I guess you don’t know what’s going to happen anymore.
