Indonesia is ready to temporarily shelter the Palestinians struck by the war in Gaza, President Prabowo suffered on Wednesday, believing that there could be 1000 in the first wave, when he started a trip to the Middle East and Turkey.
Prabowo said he had asked his Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss quickly with the Palestinian part and other parties on how to evacuate the Palestinians impacted in Indonesia, a majority Muslim country.
“We are ready to evacuate the wounded, the traumatized, the orphans,” said Prabowo, adding that the victims would temporarily be in Indonesia until they completely recovered from their injuries and that the situation in Gaza was sure for their return.
Jakarta pleaded for a solution to two states and sent humanitarian aid.
The War of Israel in Gaza was launched in October 2023, when Hamas fighters killed 1,200 people in southern Israel and took some 250 hostages, according to Israeli accounts.
Indonesia rejects Trump’s relocation plan
Since then, more than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed in the military operation of Israel, the Palestinian authorities said.
Indonesia wants to increase its role in the search for conflict resolution, said Prabowo, adding this plan is not easy.
“Indonesia’s commitment to support the security of the Palestinians and their independence prompted our government to act more actively,” said Prabowo, when he was about to embark on a trip abroad that includes Turkey, Egypt and Qatar.
Prabowo’s commentary comes two months after the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said that it firmly rejects any attempt to force Palestinians by force “as US President Donald Trump suggested that the Palestinians of Gaza definitively.
Indonesia was willing to send peacekeeping troops to Gaza if necessary, Prabowo said last year before he officially took over.
