The Grand Master Indian Harika Dronavalli obtained a podium at the Nicosia Fide Women’s Grand Prix 2025, claiming third place after an evil final. She played a draw against Anna Muzychuk of Ukraine, who won the title on the equality breaks. The constant performance of Harika throughout the tournament assured that it remained in the first three, further strengthening its position in the general classification of the Grand Prix.

The Divya Deshmukh of India also participated in the event, ending with a draw against Elisabeth Paehtz in Germany in the last round and ending in seventh place in the final classification.

The tournament attended an exciting finish while Anna Muzychuk and Zhu Jiner ended up with identical scores after nine laps. However, Muzychuk came out victorious due to a break in the higher equality of Sonneborn-Berger, guaranteeing first place. This victory propelled him into third place in the general classification of the Grand Prix with 189.17 points, keeping it in the running for more honors with two other events to play. The Zhu Jiner of China took second place.

The last day of the event saw several tense clashes. The draw of Zhu Jiner against Nana Dzagnidze of Georgia, combined with a draw between Olga Badelka of Austria and Greece Stavroula Tsolakidou, worked in favor of Muzychuk, allowing him to win the title. Meanwhile, Aleksandra Gornachkina, who won his last match against Mariya Muzychuk, continues to direct the general classification of the female Grand Prix with 308.34 points.

The total price fund for the tournament was € 80,000 (around 74 lukh rupees), the best three finishers receiving € 18,000, € 13,000 and € 10,500, respectively, as well as medals and trophies. This leg now concluded, the next tournament in the Fide Women’s Grand Prix series will be held in Pune, India, from April 14 to 25, 2025.
