Former world champion Boxer Saweety Boora made the headlines after a shocking video surfaced on social networks showing her husband physically assaulting her husband, Kabaddi star Deepak Niwas Hooda, inside a police station in Hisar, Haryana. The incident would have taken place on March 15 in the middle of the current divorce procedures between the two decorated athletes.

Boora had previously asked for Hooda’s divorce, citing allegations of harassment and assault linked to the dowry. In the now viral images, she can be seen starting towards Hooda, catching it by the throat while engaging in an animated conversation. The family members present at the station had to intervene and separate the two, but the altercation continued verbally inside the premises.

The confrontation would have taken place during a mediation session at the police station, where the two parties had gathered to discuss their current legal dispute. Hooda later said that he was injured in the assault and accused Boora, as well as his father and his maternal uncle, of using abusive language and of using physical violence before the police. The couple got married in 2022.
“During the interrogation, my wife and his father began to use a hard language. They attacked me physically in the presence of cops, and I received two injuries. His maternal uncle Satyawan also accompanied them,” said Hooda.
Saweety Boora and Deepak Hooda are very accomplished athletes in their respective fields. Boora is a triple medalist in the Asian boxing championships and a double medalist in the world championship. She won gold in the 2023 women’s boxing championships that held in New Delhi, cementing her status of the best female boxer in India.
Hooda, a former captain of India Kabaddi, was part of the team who obtained a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games. Hooda also won the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup in Ahmedabad. It is considered one of the largest versatile in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League and has remained a key figure in the Indian Kabaddi.
