India needs a common set of standards for data privacy regulation: Ipg

In an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, Arun Kumar, chief data and technology officer at IPG, believes that global advertisers are starting to see India in the same context they viewed China a few years ago. He thinks it’s the right time for India as a market.

“I think it’s the right time for India as a market. Many global advertisers are beginning to see India in the same context they viewed China a few years ago. There is a growing realization that you have to approach India on India’s terms. So it’s a time when a lot of solutions can evolve because there’s a demand for those solutions,” he said.

Speaking on data privacy, he said: “There needs to be a common set of standards for data privacy. The best industry for data privacy that I would look at is the telecommunications industry. These common standards cannot be set by Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, etc., they must be set by a wide range of technically competent experts who are not driven by any self-interest.

Additionally, actor Ananya Pandey and Shankar Prasad, CEO and Founder of Plum, talked about the company’s new campaign for the “BodyLovin” product line.
