The male male team of India engraved its names in history on Tuesday by winning the gold medal at the Sepaktakraw World Cup in 2025 in Patna, Bihar. India won a hard victory played 2-1 against Japan in the final, marking its very first gold medal in the prestigious tournament.
The summit shock saw the Indian team overcome a trembling start after abandoning the first 11-15 set. However, they presented resilience and rebounded to claim the second set 15-11 and forced a decision maker. The final set was an intense battle with both sides going aside. In the end, India exceeded Japan 17-14, arousing celebrations in the stadium when they were crowned world champions.
This triumph is a historic stage for Indian Sepaktakraw, while the Male Regu team had previously finished third in the 2017 Istaf World Cup in Hyderabad and again obtained bronze during the 2022 World Cup in Daejeon, South Korea. With this remarkable victory, they finally went up to the top of the podium.
